R.E.P.S. is proud to welcome Joshua Kincaid Smith as a new Brand Representative.
Based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Joshua is a strongman, powerlifter, childhood cancer survivor, and adaptive-athlete advocate whose life reflects what R.E.P.S. stands for: Resilience, Empowerment, Progress, and Service.
Strength forged through adversity
After an osteosarcoma diagnosis and five years of surgeries, Joshua chose amputation in 1999 so he could move forward with greater freedom. He later found strength sports and rose to compete alongside the world’s best adaptive athletes. He is a three-time USS American Adaptive National Champion and was ranked second in the world when he completed his R.E.P.S. profile.
“Amputation isn’t the end—just a different beginning.”
Joshua’s accomplishments include a 1,035-pound seated adaptive deadlift in training, a 900-pound competition axle pull, and pulling a dump truck arm over arm. Yet the achievement he values most is surviving difficult seasons while continuing to choose kindness, vulnerability, and service.
Making strength sports more inclusive
Joshua serves as a USPA/IPL national referee and a member of the Adaptive National Committee, where he helps create fairer opportunities for athletes with disabilities. He also serves through The Gathering at Venture Church and helps amputees learn to exercise as an administrator with Amputee Health and Fitness.
Service is the R.E.P.S. pillar that speaks to him most. Joshua has become the support and example he needed when he first became an amputee—proof that experience can become a pathway for helping someone else.
What getting your reps in means to Joshua
For Joshua, getting your reps in means discipline. Motivation comes and goes, but disciplined action keeps us moving through pain, setbacks, growth, and service.
His next goal is earning an International Elite USPA bench classification and qualifying for the Olympia in 2027. The R.E.P.S. community is proud to stand behind him as he continues building strength and opening doors for others.
